Managing Associate
Sumaiya joined Hepburn Delaney in May 2020 as a Managing Associate and heads up our Inheritance team.
Sumaiya is a qualified solicitor with over 15 years experience in wealth preservation.
She advises a wide variety of clients, including high net worth individuals and business owners, on all aspects of their estate planning.
Sumaiya sits on the Camelot advisory panel and regularly advises lottery winners in relation to their Wills and tax planning.
She is an expert in the drafting of Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney and advises clients with assets abroad as well as in the UK.
She advises on detailed tax planning including the mitigation of inheritance tax and capital gains tax.
She also has a wealth of experience in the administration of estates including complex high value estates with assets in other jurisdictions. She advises personal representatives on all aspects of the administration including taxation.
Sumaiya completed her undergraduate law degree, a masters degree in law, and her postgraduate diploma in law at the University of Hertfordshire and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in 2008. Immediately prior to joining Hepburn Delaney Sumaiya headed up the Wealth Protection team for the Milton Keynes office of Shoosmiths for over three years. Prior to joining Shoosmiths, she also worked at regional firm Pictons where she was a partner and head of the Wills, Trusts and Probate department.
Sumaiya is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors For The Elderly (SFE).
