Associate Solicitor
Nicole joined Hepburn Delaney in January 2019 as a Solicitor in our Children’s team.
Experience
Nicole is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and specialises in representing children in both public and private family court proceedings, with over 25 years of experience. Nicole also has experience working in-house for local authorities and regularly undertakes her own advocacy in Court. Her practice experience includes cases where children have suffered physical injury, emotional and sexual harm, neglect and domestic abuse.
Nicole often deals with family cases where the parents are struggling due to substance misuse or mental health issues and is passionate about attention to detail and ensuring all parties have a fair hearing. The children are often represented by a children’s Guardian and Nicole is held in high regard by the local Guardian’s and Cafcass. Nicole is often provided with repeat instructions and her cases cover the geographical areas of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Nicole has experience of acting for older children separately from their Guardian where the young person may have a separate case they wish to pursue. Nicole becomes involved in the more complex private law cases where the issues in the family may have become intractable and the Judge has decided that the children need to be joined as separate parties to the proceedings and need to be represented by their own Guardian and solicitor, separate from their parents. Nicole is an experienced and confident advocate and is respected by the local Judges who she regularly appears before.
Education
Nicole achieved a 2:1 Law Degree from Lancaster University and completed her solicitors exams in York. She has spent most of her career working in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
