Julie Mackay

Chartered Legal Executive

Julie has been with us for over 20 years after starting out as a Legal Assistant and later qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2005.  She has experience in all areas of cases involving children.

Julie is part of our Firm’s care department and has particular expertise in public law proceedings representing parents and other family members. Her experience and professional approach has meant that she has dealt with many complex cases, including non-accidental injuries, fictitious illness and sexual abuse as well as cases where domestic abuse, neglect and substance misuse are the main issues. Julie has represented a number of parents who have learning difficulties or mental health issues including those who need the assistance of the Official Solicitor.  Her friendly, sensitive and practical approach means clients feel at ease and able to present their best case. She also represents parents and family members in cases involving adoption, special guardianship, deprivation of liberty, secure accommodation and discharge of care orders.  She is an experienced and confident advocate, regularly attending the local courts to represent parents and family members.

Julie is regularly involved in cases where children remain with or are reunited with their families and her committed approach means that she has many referrals from other local professionals as well as previous clients.
