Financial Support For Children

When couples separate, it is often the financial security of the children which is a priority. Hepburn Delaney’s expert solicitors can advise you on how to secure child financial arrangements in divorce or separation.

For married couples, part of the process of reaching agreement on separating the marital finances is looking at how the children will be provided for. This can include consideration of the accommodation that each parent has or will receive and it can also look at monthly maintenance.

However, in some circumstances, often those involving the separation of unmarried parents or where one parent has significant income, where specific financial arrangements may need to be made which are instead of or in addition to the arrangements as between the parents.

Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989 allows for an application to Court to be made for financial provision for children. The Court then has the power to consider a range of options that take into account the needs of the child including any disability, the financial resources of the parents, and any private education provisions that are already in place or have been planned.

Get in touch with our experts in Child Financial Arrangements

If you are separating from a partner and you need advice as to how to ensure the best financial provision for your child, we offer an initial advice and objectives meeting.  In our meeting, we take the time to understand your unique family law situation and explore your goals and options moving forward. This introductory consultation allows us to gather important information, answer your initial questions, and provide you with a clear understanding of the legal process.  We can discuss all options regarding child financial arrangements as part of your divorce or following separation.

TESTIMONIALS

“I have had various reasons to take advice and instruct Hepburn Delaney over the last few years and I cannot fault their service, communication skills and plain non jargon explanation of the position they were acting on my behalf.

The advice was excellent, and explanations were exemplary, making the process so much easier. Would not hesitate to recommend”
